CHATEL

Perfectly positioned on the French Swiss border and within easy reach of Geneva, Chatel is still an authentic farming village. Since the opening of the first drag lift in 1948 heralding its expansion from a primarily farming village into a winter tourism destination, Chatel has maintained its character and community feel whilst offering some of the best and most convenient skiing in the Alps.

Chatel has been awarded the coveted ‘Famille Plus Montagne’ holiday label recognising that children are just as well catered for as adults and that Chatel village is a place for the whole family – both skiers and non-skiers alike.

With great skiing, lively Apres, a welcoming atmosphere and unparalleled convenience and beauty, let us welcome you to The Exclusive Chalet and show you all Chatel has to offer within a luxury and relaxing environment.

THE SKIING AND BOARDING

The Portes Du Soleil is the largest linked multi country ski resort in the world!

Chatel is one of the prettiest, most varied and best linked resorts of the 12 stations making up the Portes Du Soleil ski area. Most slopes are pasture based and tree lined which, coupled with the cold air flow from the Mont Blanc range delivers high levels of snowfall throughout the winter season and helps to maintain the excellent on and off piste skiing conditions for all abilities:

Beginners: The Exclusive Chalet is in a great location providing direct access to a wide range of blue and green slopes from either the Linga or Super Chatel lifts. The Châtel Liberté pass provides great value but enough mileage for confidence building progression throughout the week.

We work with Chatel Sensations which is owned by a former member of the French ski team, Sebastien, who is dedicated to providing the best possible ski experience for all levels, both adults and children alike.

He has even created a special children’s garden where children as young as 3 can be introduced to the joys of skiing in a fun and relaxed way and children who have achieved the marmot level (snowplough) are invited to take part in the torchlit descent every Thursday evening which is a lovely way for them to cap off their week.

We are also right next door to the Village des Marmottons for half or all day kids ski club and creche which is very convenient if you have small children.

Intermediates / Experts: Whether you want unlimited mileage, accessible off piste or to ski to a different resort for lunch (in either France or Switzerland) every single day of your holiday, you will not go wrong with the full area Portes Du Soleil ski pass. For those who really want to push it, try to ski all 12 resorts in one day via the genuine Portes Du Soleil circuit and do not forget to try the world famous Swiss Wall!

Freestyle: You will not find a better place than Chatel’s ‘smooth park’ to capture those GoPro moments. The park contains a fantastic range of kickers and rails for beginners to experts and is run by a dedicated team to maintain excellent conditions. The team also operate the chill out area with music, picnic, barbeques and views of the big air bag which is a great way to while away the afternoon whether you are a spectator or participant!

The enviable position of Chatel and excellent snow record has only been enhanced by recent heavy investment in snow making and lift structure. Chatel is usually the first resort to open in the whole Portes Du Soleil ski network and is always keen to maintain this record.

The Village

Despite having the advantage of being compact with all amenities being within easy walking distance, the sheer number and quality of the activities and facilities in Chatel will ensure that there really is something for everyone in your group:

Great Restaurants – with traditional Savoyard fayre at ‘La Poya’ or contemporary cuisine and excellent cocktails at ‘La Vieux Four as well as everything else in between, you will be spoilt for choice on your chalet hosts’ night off and for luxury lunches on the slopes or in the charming town.
